SHONTAE
MONIQUE HILL,
professionally known as Shontae,
is from Fayetteville, North Carolina. She is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Billy and Lydia Henry, and has six sisters and five
brothers.
Music has been
the center of Shontae's life since the age of three. She started
singing at her home church, (Come As You Are Evangelistic Center) in
Aberdeen, North Carolina, where her grandmother Lydia Jones is the
pastor.
Shontae has been the lead singer with her sisters, The Henry
Sisters, since the age of seven. They traveled across the country as
little girls from church to church. Shontae also traveled from city
to city with her grandmother, Evangelist/Pastor Jones and her uncle,
Associate Pastor and manager, Arvetra Jones, Jr. She is the choir
director of the youth and adult church choirs.
This young lady has
sung in meetings with gospel recording artists such as: John P. Kee,
Evangelist Shirley Caesar, Bruce Parham, James Moore, Marvin Winans,
The Clark Sisters, Fred Hammond, Luther Barnes, The Wilmington
Chestor Mass Choir, Yolanda Adams, Broderick Rrice, Donald Lawrence
and the Tri-city Singers, Jimmy Jam, Terrry Lewis and others.
Shontae has also recorded "Live" for the "James Cleveland Gospel
Music Workshop of America," youth choir in Atlanta, Indiana, Los
Angeles, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, New Orleans, and Detroit Michigan,
where she was chosen as the lead singer of several songs for the
workshop's youth choir. These songs were written by Becky White and
Garland "Miche" Waller (organist for John P. Kee.)
A graduate of E.E.
Smith Sr. High School in Fayetteville N.C., she maintained a 4.0
grade point average. Shontae attended Fayetteville State University
where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music.
She graduated Cum Lade in her class. Shontae is currently a
licensed Music/Chorus teacher, and has taught music/chorus at “Nick
Jeralds” middle school in Fayetteville N.C. Shontae has performed
the “National Anthem” at many colleges and high school sporting
events, and has performed at various functions and programs in the
community. Shontae appeared on “It’s Showtime at the Apollo” in
March of 2003 in which she sang and was received well by people all
over. She placed first in many talent shows and competitions.
Shontae is an anointed gospel singer, who relies upon her heavenly
Father. She reaches out through Christ to help people of all ages
with her instrument of voice through her singing. Shontae's debut CD
entitled, "I'm Determined" was released on Danbla Records in August
2005.
